Fall Preschool Open House:

Wednesday, August 21, 2013, 9-11:30 am

The Creative Kids daily routine consists of:

Curriculum: We use the Handwriting without Tears curriculum for writing numbers and letters. Our school incorporates the Jolly Phonics program to learn sounds. We follow the Illinois Early Learning Standard developed by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Exploratory Time: Children arrive and are greeted by the teachers. Then they work with puzzles, read books, and investigate items in the “discovery areas.” The children are free to choose to work in a variety of centers that are designed to enhance the day’s activities and stimulate intellectual, social and muscle development. Activities include daily painting, computer use, mastering educational games and puzzles. Dress-up and kitchen areas are used to encourage children to explore their imaginations.

Clean-up: Children are taught to put back their own Preschoolermaterials and play equipment.

Rug Time: Attendance, calendar, weather, counting, practicing sounds of the alphabet, learning songs and finger plays and listening to books are completed here. Music, drama, rhythm instruments, puppets and large muscle movement are alternated throughout the school year.

Snack Time: We provide a daily snack and juice. Parents are asked to bring treats a few times a year.

Group Time: Art projects develop skills using scissors, gluing, shapes, colors, numbers, letters, matching, sequencing, sorting and creating. Academic papers are completed here.

Gym or Outdoor Play: Playtime takes place on the park equipment when weather permits, otherwise the indoor gym is used.

The program incorporates special events and trips which may include: the fire station, library, a pumpkin patch, nature center, roller blading, a play and an amusement park trip. An extra charge for admission and/or bus fee is required for some trips.

Preschool Parents' Club: Our club sponsors the annual SummerFest auction. Parents are encouraged to become active and help raise funds for our school.
